Fire / Safety
Firefighters risk life and limb every day assisting the general public when tragedy strikes.
They rely heavily on the quality of the equipment used to control the situation, and on the
equipment used to protect them from harm’s way.
The Drag Rescue Device (DRD) is designed to aid in the rapid extraction of an immobilized firefighter.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requires every turnout jacket to have a DRD system.
Located between the turnout jacket’s outer shell and the inside liner, the DRD is positioned to provide
upper torso support of the downed firefighter. This webbing is looped out of the top of the jacket for
easy access. The rescuer can quickly grab this loop, get in front of the downed firefighter for better
maneuverability, and exit the premises.
Narricot Industries is proud to be one of the key U.S. manufactures of the Kevlar webbing that is used
to make the DRD system. Our Kevlar webbings have been certified by the Safety Equipment Institute as a
Structural Fire Fighting Garment Component. In addition, our webbings meet the requirements of the
NFPA 1971-2007 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting.
